Support Community Television (CTSB)

ctsb

It has come to our attention that Community Television for the Southern Berkshires (CTSB) will suffer drastic funding losses now that cable companies have begun to stream cable subscriptions. This loss of funding will severely impact services provided by CTSB.

CTSB is a vital and important communication resource for our community. Our community depends on CTSB for local government and school board meetings, public events, and many community program offerings serving all segments of population. Community programs include the Fall Festival of Shakespeare, Monument Mountain TV, Community Highlights, High School Sports Weekly, Berkshire Light, IWOW, and so much more.

STATE HOUSE BILL 74 and STATE SENATE BILL 34 “An Act to Modernize Funding for Community Media” support tax on mainstream companies that stream video services across our public and private lands, such as Netflix, Disney, Hulu, and Spectrum.

We strongly encourage you to support this legislation which will ensure the continuation of the vital services provided by CTSB in our future. Please click here for a letter drafted to our State Representative William "Smitty" Pignatelli and Senator Paul Mark asking for their support in this legislation. Add the date, your name and address to the letter and mail to show your support.

CTSB also has letters that can be signed available at their office located at Quarry Hill Industrial Park, 40 Limestone Road, Lee, MA 01238. They are happy to mail the letters for you as well!

As a reminder, the Town of Lee currently has three (3) vacancies on the Five Town Cable Advisory Committee. If you are interested in joining this Committee to support Lee, please email a letter of interest to christopher.brittain@lee.ma.us
