Community Read: Renegade Revolutionary
Celebrating America at 250
In recognition of the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, the Town of Lee, in partnership with the Lee Library, invites the community to take part in a shared reading and discussion of Renegade Revolutionary: The Life of General Charles Lee by Phillip Papas, the fascinating and controversial figure for whom the Town of Lee, Massachusetts, is named.
This engaging biography examines one of the Revolution’s most complex and debated figures—General Charles Lee, a British‑born officer who became a senior commander in the Continental Army. By tracing Lee’s career, ideas, and actions, the book invites readers to consider questions of liberty, loyalty, dissent, and leadership at the heart of the American founding, offering a thoughtful lens for reflection as the nation commemorates 250 years of independence.
