COA VAN DRIVER - Job Posting

Are you looking for a fulfilling way to give back to your community? The Lee Council on Aging is seeking compassionate and dedicated van drivers to join our team for 14 hours per week. As a van driver, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for our senior residents by providing them with safe and reliable transportation to medical, shopping, and social appointments. A training session through the BRTA will be required. Days and hours to be discussed with applicants.

Expected Duties:

  • Provide daily transportation services as assigned by the director.
  • Keep daily records of mileage and gasoline use, and submit them to the supervisor daily/weekly.
  • Maintain a daily log of transportation.
  • Provide safe and sensitive handling of clients.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Keep the van and maintenance up-to-date.
  • Develop and maintain daily communication regarding needs, suggestions, and concerns with the director.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations for large van ridership and the specific abilities of older adults.
  • Basic driving skills.
  • Stay updated on all van classes and undergo random drug testing.
  • Maintain good customer relations.
  • Provide customer service, such as helping clients in/out of the van and with their bundles.
  • Organize pick-up times.
  • Work cooperatively with senior center staff and clients.
  • Maintain positive interactions.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Hold a valid driving license.
  • Perform duties with some latitude for individual judgment.
  • Maintain confidentiality for elders and their family/caretakers.
