Our 2024 fund raising campaign is now under way. You can contribute by sending a check or money order to Lee Land Trust, P.O Box 702, Lee, MA 01238. We thank you for any support you may give.

This year we are focusing on invasive species and ways to recover and encourage a native habitat. Check our news/events page to see what we have coming up for educational events, field work and displays in town focused on invasive vs. native species.

Mission

To preserve and safeguard the rural character, natural resources and open spaces of the Town of Lee. We work with the Town and the appropriate Boards to encourage thoughtful and scenic development for the future growth of Lee.

About Us

Founded in 1992, the Lee Land Trust is an independent, non-profit, tax exempt organization. Tim Gray, Deidre Consolati and other interested individuals, formed the Trust. Their commitment to preserving our land and resources continues today. It is a grass roots Trust which is supported by memberships, donations and volunteers. By guiding individuals and organizations to help them protect their land, we aim to safeguard and ensure the preservation of the natural and historic beauty of Lee. Our vision is to secure open land for farming and recreation, as well as the protection of our forests, natural areas and water resources. We are a non profit 501(c)(3) FID# 04-3201900.

What We Do:

Education:

By holding periodic educational programs, we keep the public informed and up to date concerning green corridors and wildlife, local farming, student projects, trail updates, climate issues and more.
It is felt that the involvement of our younger citizens is crucial in the continuance of the work done by all involved. Lee Land Trust awards an annual scholarship to a Lee High School graduate pursuing a career in environmental studies.

Stewardship:

Trust volunteers and neighbors of preserved lands are all involved in helping to maintain the trails and parking areas as well as being watchful for and removing invasive species.
We welcome volunteers for our stewardship projects such as trail maintenance. Others may enjoy joining the Board and assisting with event planning and projects.

Recreation:

Members of the Trust are involved in leading hikes while offering information about our flora and fauna. The Trust encourages people to explore, even their own backyards, to learn what creatures live and which native plants grow there, and thus grow to appreciate our unique natural world.
